Famous Book Shop

Might be holding the treasure you were looking for!!!


Fellow readers, most of us have a habit of keeping hard copies of books we love as souvenirs. But if you are hunting a book which is either rare, out of print or banned in our country, you know how the hunt always ends. Finding all these types of books or even the first original prints is very hard if you don't know where to look for.

Luckily I stumbled upon an OLX advert & found a new book shop to get many rare, first edition, or limited edition books as well as comic books.


The shop that I'm talking about is 'Famous Book Shop' located in Mumbra. This was my first experience in buying second-hand books and it went very well. So I'll be reviewing this shop just so my fellow readers and book collectors may find the book they were looking for.

Why You Should Visit Famous Book Shop?

1. Location:
Famous Book Shop is located in Mumbra East & is just a minute walk away from Mumbra Railway Station. If you travel through Central Line regularly, then this is the best option to buy books without wasting much time. Due to being located so close to the railway station you don't have to spend a rupee on travel to reach the shop. Therefore, the location of the shop is optimal for saving money as well as time.

2. Variety of Books:
This is what most of us take into consideration whenever we go to book shops and here you won't be disappointed no matter what genre of books you are into except for Marathi books but yes they do have few good Marathi books in their shop. They have books in languages such as Hindi, English, Urdu & Arabic in large quantities.




If you want to create an interest in reading in your child or younger siblings then I suggest you to take them to this shop. They have a lot of Goosebumps, Diary of Wimpy Kid, Infotainment books, Amar Chitra Katha and so on. They also have child-friendly editions of classics like Frankenstein and The Catcher In The Rye.




The book variety ranges from fiction, non- fiction, historical to political books in Hindi & English.
If you are a comic book collector then this shop is like a gold mine for you. They have an insane amount of rare, out of print, limited editions, hardcovers, slipcase editions of Vertigo, Indrajaal, DC, Marvel, Gotham, Raj Comics, etc.






If you want any particular comic book series you can contact them & check for availability. If it's not available right now, they will contact you if they ever get their hands on the series or volumes that you are looking for.

They also have educational books, reference books and competitive exam books at the shop.

3. Customer Service & Interaction
The first reason for me writing this review is because I got a very good treatment as a customer as well as a reader from the owner of the shop, Mr. Arshad Shaikh. Arshad uncle is running this shop since 1993 and now his son, Mr. Arsalan Shaikh runs the shop with his father.

When I first went into the shop, they offered me a chair to sit and then started bringing various comic books and graphic novels one after the other. By the time of 10 minutes, the whole shop was a beautiful mess covered with lots of comic books. I stayed in the shop for like an hour or so but not on a single occasion Uncle or Bhai got irritated by my behavior or queries. This duo of father and son is very humble, sweet & most importantly passionate about the work that they do. 

After showing the comic books, Arshad Uncle sat on the ground and I also sat with him as we started talking about Indian authors, philosophical books, etc. Uncle asked me whether I know so and so book, have I read so and so book or whether I have read books by so and so author. He also suggested to me where to start reading Indian books, which books are short reads or easy to get into. To a reader, it is always a pleasant thing whenever someone talks about books. 

Talking about Arsalan Bhai, he is a comic book collector and enthusiast so he knows what searching or completing comic book collection means to us. He will help you with buying comic books in this shop. He will suggest you whether a comic book is worth reading or not.

4. Price
I myself got 9 books for 1300, all in great condition except for one. For me, it was a good deal and I have no regrets. You can ask the price of a particular book over a call and buy them.

So these are a few of the reasons why you should visit the Famous Book Shop. If you are a book shop owner yourself then you need to visit this shop just to see how you should run the business.
